چکیده

Artists making three-dimensional art objects have an idea in their minds about how to illuminate their creations. For museums and galleries to illuminate these objects successfully according to the ideas of the artist, the types of light sources and their locations must be known. To fulfil this requirement, we propose a lighting coordinate database (LCD) to establish the coordinates of light sources. We describe two possible methods of obtaining data for this database: a computer software method and a hardware method. The head of Michelangelo’s David is used to test the applicability of the two methods. In the software method, the scanned image of David’s head is illuminated on the computer screen and data for the location of light sources are created. In the hardware method, a second set of data is created by illuminating a scale model of David using light emitting diodes (LED). r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Learning 6D Object Pose Estimation Using 3D Object Coordinates

This work addresses the problem of estimating the 6D Pose of specific objects from a single RGB-D image. We present a flexible approach that can deal with generic objects, both textured and texture-less. The key new concept is a learned, intermediate representation in form of a dense 3D object coordinate labelling paired with a dense class labelling. We are able to show that for a common datase...

6-DOF Model Based Tracking via Object Coordinate Regression

This work investigates the problem of 6-Degrees-Of-Freedom (6-DOF) object tracking from RGB-D images, where the object is rigid and a 3D model of the object is known. As in many previous works, we utilize a Particle Filter (PF) framework. In order to have a fast tracker, the key aspect is to design a clever proposal distribution which works reliably even with a small number of particles. To ach...

Saliency-Guided Lighting

The comprehensibility of large and complex 3D models can be greatly enhanced by guiding viewer’s attention to important regions. Lighting is crucial to our perception of shape. Careful use of lighting has been widely used in art, scientific illustration, and computer graphics to guide visual attention. In this paper, we explore how the saliency of 3D objects can be used to guide lighting to emp...

Stylized lighting for cartoon shader

In the context of non-photorealistic imaging, such as digital cel animation, lighting is symbolic and stylized to depict the scene’s mood and the geometric or physical features of the objects in the scene. Stylized light and shade should therefore be intentionally animated rather than rigorously simulated. However, it is difficult to achieve smooth animation of light and shade that are stylized...

Multiple View Video Streaming and 3d Scene Reconstruction for Traffic Surveillance

We present a 3D modeling system for traffic surveillance applications. The application contains several cameras positioned around a traffic scene. The video signals are compressed and streamed to a central client. At the central client a scene reconstruction is carried out, using all 2D camera views utilizing 3D camera calibration information. To combine all views into a 3D model, moving object...
